I recently stopped by the drugstore to pick up a new eyeliner and thought I would share this with you. This has got to be one of my favorite drugstore eyeliners; the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. I think this has been one of my favorite drugstore gel eyeliners since I found it back in high school.
I currently use this gel eyeliner with the Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eye Liner brush, but if you don’t want to invest in a new / different brush, the one it comes with will get the job done. Out of preference, I pick the Bobbi Brown brush as it is easier to work with and precise compared to the Maybelline brush. Using the brush it comes with doesn’t always allow for an even application and you may notice some areas that appear darker.
This gel eyeliner lasts all day and unless I rub my eye, doesn’t budge. As for it’s waterproof claim, I would have to say false. While I can’t go swimming with it on, it does have a water resistance to it. It also claims to be smudge proof, but if you rub, there’s a chance it will smudge. If I rubbed my eyes lightly, it didn’t smudge noticeably, but say I forgot I had it on and rubbed my eye, I would sometimes end up looking like a raccoon.
If you don’t plan on going swimming and just need a good every day eyeliner I would recommend this one. I find that it’s a good everyday gel eyeliner that gets the job done without breaking the bank. Readers, which do you prefer, liquid, gel, pencil?
Below there are a few links I found for this product. It seems that the Wal-Mart one is cheaper by about two cents; if that matters to you. I mean, money is money, and you should save it where you can. CVS seems to be the most expensive, at around $1-$2 more, however the link to each color doesn’t seem to work, so you might have to stop by your local CVS store to see if they carry it. If you’re wondering, I usually buy mine from Wal-Mart.
