Once again I got to work with Valentia on a post on one of their products. I tried their clay mask and I have to say I rather enjoyed it.
The scent of this mask is lovely. It is a bit floral and I didn’t mind the scent as I waited for it to dry. If there is a candle out there that smells like this mask, I want it!
This mask is $25 for 120 ML or 4 FL Oz on Amazon.
Some of the ingredients are CoQ10- used for cell production in the human body and lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulates healthy collagen production. Hibiscus and cranberry fibers- both of these lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin to reduce the creation of new wrinkles. Astaxanthin- a powerful antioxidant that repairs collagen production, combats free radical damage, and restores skin to elastic, bright, and wrinkle free tones and textures. Kaolin Clay- known for its detoxifying powers, clay minerals dray out impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin. Plant Stem Cells- this french developed constituent naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins working to soothe the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness. Spirulina- a botanical stimulant full of vitamins and minerals that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.
This product is claimed to draw out impurities, improve skin tone, reduce pore size, and firm and strengthen skin. I did find that after my skin felt tighter and smoother, and over-all looked better, however, I did not find it to reduce my pore size. I did not use this product daily, but every few days to once a week. I didn’t want to over-do it and possibly irritate my skin.
This product feels a little… gritty in your hands. The little black dots help exfoliate your skin after when you wash it off with a wash cloth. While some masks are very liquidy, I found this one to be on the thicker side and you can easily pile on a thick layer.
Do NOT use if your skin is irritated or raw, or on any open scratches and wounds. It will hurt. Like, a lot. The other day as I was putting it on, it hurt a lot so I had to wash it off right away. It hurt around my nose which at first I thought it was really weird because I’ve been using this mask for a few weeks and never had a problem. As I dried off my face, I realized that the entire day consisted of me sneezing and rubbing my nose-aah haa! *Light bulb!* Duh, my skin around my nose was probably really irritated and putting this on was probably a bad idea.
